A Journey
of The Spirit

What is Yoga?
Yoga is a practice of integrating all aspects of the individual - body, mind, and spirit - to reach a state of ultimate freedom. This is the experience of one's innermost being or soul. Conscious Movements focus is based upon the third limb of yoga, Asana. During this practice of Yoga Asana, the practitioner remains mindful of her breath while moving through a series of asanas (poses) with awareness. This practice allows her remain in the moment by disciplining her mind and quieting her body.
Another important element of yoga is the practice of non-violence in thought, deed, and action. A clear indicator in movement that we have lapsed in our practice of non-violence is the sensations of a 'negative feeling' such as anger, envy or guilt or the experience of physical discomfort. Remember this when you are on and off your mat - embrace this practice when you feel the tensions of violence rise in your body-mind. Learn to listen to these sensations and live a life of balance and joy.
